    Verdict

Desert Pride should be good enough to win this ordinary maiden auction. Celtic Spring and Bahamian Bliss are the best alternatives, while another to mention is Too Hot To Handle, who is an interesting newcomer but may be better over longer distances when she has gained in experience. She one to keep tabs on and, in financially terms, she is probably best watched until going into handicaps. Celtic Spring showed improvement last time out but, having finished almost five lengths adrift of Desert Pride, she has a bit to find. Still, she coped well with the surface and, as this race lacks strength in depth, the daughter of Celtic Swing could easily make the frame in this company. Bahamian Pride makes some appeal from a punting perspective, as she doesn¿t have much to find to provide selection with the sternest challenge. She teams up with a male jockey for the first time today and it remains to be seen if stronger driving will provide the key to unlocking her potential. Even so, Desert Pride sets the standard on the BHA ratings and, now that he has a seasonal run behind him, the Stuart Kittow-trained colt is likely to make this a really stern test for the rest. A rating of 73 would look harsh outside this grade, so this appears to be a good bit o f placement by trainer Stuart Kittow, whose representative looks easily the best option from what they have shown to date.
