Verdict

The best advice we can give here is to keep the powder dry for something else on the card later on, but if you must flash the cash then Colorado Springs is a tentative suggestion. William Jarvis's filly sports headgear for the first time here, and that can hopefully have the effect of galvanising her to success. She should be more at home over this 10f than she was over half a mile further last time, the ground should be no problem and her form looks just about strong enough to see her home in front at these weights. Ballad Maker showed some promise in maidens at 9f and a mile last season but has been woeful so far this time and despite being the BHA's top-rated here we will oppose. Stamina is an issue for Check Up, but not so for Psycho Cat, who went close in the mud at Ripon last month and would be worth a second glance if the rains arrive before this race. Sekula Pata won a minor polytrack handicap off this mark last year but even that form looks a distant memory, while Classic Hall has conditions and trip to suit and appears to be a better proposition. Not one to waste any sleep on and Colorado Springs is a gun-to-the-head selection.
