Verdict

Pango's Legacy could be the answer to this affair with Sweet Gale and Jack Oliver holding formbook claims. Pango's Legacy has fewer miles on the clock than most but he has shaped relatively well in the past and having had a first run of the season, he can be expected to have gleaned plenty for that experience and should be fit enough to do himself justice. Sweet Gale could be anything and it is difficult to see what we gleaned from his Southwell victory where he obliged in style. The handicapper has had the same quandry as ourselves. Jack Oliver is likely to be staying on at the death and has obvious claims of following up his course-and-distance success providing that the gaps come in time. Victory Spirit hails from a yard that are sending out big price winners so has to be respected. He is surely better than his reappearance suggests. Ambrosiano may have disappointed at Nottingham in April but a subsequent reappraisal of the form suggests that the race may have been much better than first thought. Optical Illusion is tried in handicaps for the first time. The front runner cost US$200 000 and is beginning to look expensive. Of the remainder, Satyricon is not a forlorn hope if transferring evidence of past aptitude on the all-weather. A difficult race in which Pango's Legacy is the pick.
