In depth

Verdict

Sir Mark Prescott is famed for running up sequences with well handicapped stayers and Wicked Daze appears to fit that profile. However, an 8lb rise for his latest success looks plenty steep enough and preference is for top weight Millville. The selection was a c&d scorer last time, when he obliged readily, and a 3lb rise should not peg him back. Connections say that this is his optimum trip and we are not going to dispute that. Wicked Daze does nothing if not stay and may be even better over further. He put up a good performance to win in a decent time last time out so he is very much respected. Polish Power is 2lb better off with Millville for less than a length but keeps going up without winning and that is a concern for punters. Sgt Schultz is 5lb better off with Wicked Daze for one and three-quarter lengths last time they met so it should again prove plenty close enough but Millville it taken to beat them all.
