In depth

Verdict

Our Emmy Lou was a bit of a disappointment last time but we will give her another chance here, with State Of Balance and Scott others for the short list. The selection looked booked for a big run at Pontefract last time out, but did not appear to handle the very fast ground, and so we will forgive her that and concentrate on her win at Yarmouth the time before to give us the necessary confidence. The manner of her success that day suggested that there was plenty more to come and as she is proven at this trip, as long as she handles the surface she looks booked for a return to form in a big way. There is nothing else in the field with the same potential for improvement, though State Of Balance is interesting on her second run back after a break. She has won on the polytrack over 10 furlongs back in May but has to prove she stays this extra quarter-of-a-mile, and on breeding that is not certain. On the other hand Scott gets the trip and can go well, but as a winner at Southwell on the fibresand he does not inspire confidence that he can make the switch to this surface successful, and so we will take Our Emmy Lou to come good again.
