Recalcitrant is taken to collect a weak finale, with Mix'n'Match and Green Pirate flying the flag for the opposition. A winner of a Wolverhampton claimer in March, Green Pirate showed his first glimmer of form since when fourth to Prince Charlemagne last time. He has been dropped a pound but that was only a weak contest last time and he is passed over. The maiden Mix'n'Match has had an unproductive time over hurdles but ran the best race of his career last time, to be second to Prince Charlemagne with Green Pirate behind. Raised three pounds though here may ensure he has to wait a little longer for that first win. Without a win since scoring over this trip a year ago, Recalcitrant has shaped encouragingly recently, only beaten three lengths in a decent Goodwood handicap last time. He has been dropped a pound, and placed on the all-weather on his previous run, Recalcitrant can land a long awaited success.
