Verdict

Dermot Weld won has this for the past two years with Profound Beauty and SENSE OF PURPOSE looks just the type of improving four-year-old her trainer does so well with. She only just held today's rival Bob Le Beau when making all over 1m6f in Listed company here last time but the shorter trip will not be a problem and she can again see off the runner-up despite 3lb worse terms. Mount Athos has run very well in two tough handicaps after scoring at Dundalk in April and deserves a crack in this grade but it's the three-year-old Marksmanship who may prove a bigger threat as he's been competing at a high level since making a winning debut at the Curragh and the faster ground here may prove just what he requires.
