Verdict

A fascinating handicap in which the most tentative of votes goes to LIVELY FLING at the main expense of Holberg. John Gosden's lightly-raced gelding was a facile winner on his reappearance at the track. That win coincided with a step up in trip and this son of Dynaformer is open to plenty more improvement; the market should help guide as to whether connections feel that this mark of 85 is within his compass. Holberg also races off 85 following two all-weather wins, the most recent of them at Kempton 136 days ago. Mark Johnston's progressive son of Halling looks a player but he will need to step up once again now stepped up in trip. Stablemate Alcalde has a course win to his name and is another trying a longer trip. Matthew Lawson is an interesting booking but it would suggest that he is very much the stable second string. Orbitor, a son of Galileo has shown a good level of form but he was a beaten favourite on his reappearance at Doncaster. His mark may be beyond him and as his dam was a sprinter it will be intriguing to see how he lasts home over this longer trip. A fascinating race in which preference is for Lively Fling.
