      Verdict

Elsinora, just touched off last time, can go one better in this weak contest, with Defana, City General and Go Free others in with a chance. There are plenty of duck-eggs littered about here, and it may well be that the recent form of Elsinora will pay to follow. On her latest engagement in similar company at Carlisle, Hugh Morrison's filly struck the front in the straight but threw in the towel when tackled by the eventual winner Reversionary, and so is no good thing to make amends. However, a glance at the form of the rest of her rivals reveals that serious opposition is thin on the ground, so even with doubts about her resolution, Elsinora is the pick. Defana was fancied when third to Oktis Morilious at Warwick and although hailing from a yard that has been in great form, needs to find another gear. City General has taken on slightly better company without showing a great deal, and Go Free lined up on the fibresand last time. All can play a part, but Elsinora is the one to be on.
