Verdict

A big field of unexposed talent in the main makes this a hard one for punters and it is with some trepidation that Scarlet Invader is selected over the likes of Ifit, Lucky Red Pepper and Hallucinate. John Dunlop's juveniles can always be relied on to improve markedly on what they show first time, and so Scarlet Invader should at least be involved in the finish here. The son of Indian Ridge ran green on his debut here last month but stayed on behind Intoxicating to get fourth. The extra furlong should help, and he can prove best of those drawn high. Ifit has plenty of stamina on the dam's side and she should make up into a decent sort next season, while Lucky Red Pepper comes from a stable quickly re-establishing itself as a force and should be noted in the market. Hallucinate may prove best of the Richard Hannon pair with the further step up in trip to suit, and as Michael Bell won this race last year, it would be foolish not to mention Louise Rayner who has a bit more experience than most. For the winner, the most tentative of votes goes to Scarlet Invader.
