In depth

Verdict

This is a terrific handicap for a Monday afternoon, and we will stick with the progressive Nordwind, who is taken to beat Carte Diamond and Corsican Native. Peter Harris's colt is steadily climbing the weights following three wins since the end of July. His most recent success came at Goodwood last month when comfortably accounting for Qudraat, he could still be on the upgrade and should defy the handicapper again.Carte Diamond landed a couple of decent handicaps before taking on listed company last time at Newmarket. He put up a terrific performance chasing home Tungsten Strike, and he will be a big threat to all even over this shorter trip. Corsican Native is very lightly raced and following an effortless maiden success, chased home the well handicapped Flambouyant Lad in a competitive Newmaket race last week, he still looks well treated and should figure in the finish. Qudraat can also be given a chance with his weight pull, but Nordwind, who never raced at two, continues to improve and is taken to oblige.
