Verdict

Aidan O'Brien has won this for the past two years and as three-year-olds appear to hold all the aces he can make it a hat-trick via STEINBECK, who returns after an unsuccessful run on dirt in the USA. Beaten but not disgraced behind Canford Cliffs in the Guineas at Newmarket and the Curragh earlier, his second to Famous Name at Leopardstown showed he retains his ability and this is his easiest task since his debut success at Naas. Wade Giles upset a Ballydoyle hot-pot in Fencing Master at Naas last month and it would be no great surprise to see him do so again as he is a rapidly-improving type who deserves his crack at this higher level. Shintoh found Precious Gem just too strong over 1m2f at the Curragh but is well up to this standard and may be better suited by this trip. Finicius may do best of the older brigade though he's held by Steinbeck on their run behind Famous Name.
