Verdict

FAUGHEEN can bounce back from a first defeat over hurdles by stablemate Nichols Canyon in the Morgiana at Punchestown by landing this for a second time. He had Sign Of A Victory more than 30 lengths behind 12 months ago and should easily confirm that form. Old Guard's upward curve continued in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham, where Hargam finished third, but a further step forward is required here. The New One was only beaten half-a-length in this in 2013 and has won three times over the course and distance. But he was beaten almost eight lengths by the selection in the Champion Hurdle in March and generally comes up short over 2m in top-class company.
