Verdict

Neither of these two look the most reliable of jumpers and, what can only be a tentative vote goes to Santenay, who is just preferred to Teaatral. The last mentioned, a 165-rated hurdler at his best, has come to chasing late in life but quickly made up for lost time with wins at Huntingdon and Market Rasen earlier in the year. However, Charlie Egerton's gelding failed to run up to his form and jumped sluggishly throughout, when eventually refusing at Stratford when last seen in June and can hardly be described as a reliable proposition now. Santenay was of a similar level of ability to Teaatral over hurdles and, although he has failed to impress completely in two starts over fences, the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding lost no caste in defeat behind the more experienced Brother Joe at Chepstow last time. This looks easier and, in receipt of weight, Santenay gets the vote.
