In depth

Verdict

Colloquial gets the nod over Prins Willem and Theatre, while support for Darasim would also be interesting. The last named has been frustrating to follow (under both codes) lately and will never be one to trust implicitly. He does, however, hold ability when he puts his mind to it and can still be force at this level. Especially from what looks an attractive mark in comparison to some of his best form. Theatre stays well and is running into full fitness after a couple of starts this term. He does need to improve a touch, though, so is not one to go overboard about. Prins Willem failed to land a blow in the Ascot Stakes last time but is better than that. He is versatile regarding his ground but may prefer a slower surface to be seen at his best. Therefore, we turn to Colloquial, who looks to be very much on an upward curve. The five-year-old's half-length defeat by Bulwark at Haydock reads well in the context of this race and, with proven from on the All Weather, the son of Classic Cliche is fancied to outstay the rest on this occasion.
