In depth

Verdict

Another tricky maiden to solve, but one where we will take a chance on Humorous, with Front Stage and Forward Move others for the short list. Humorous made nothing more than a satisfactory debut when a six length fifth of 16 to Capable Guest at Leicester, in what was an above average maiden for the track. Being by Darshaan this step up to a mile will certainly be in his favour, and given that he should come on for the run, he is worth chancing to small stakes in a race where a bit of caution is advised. Front Stage, from the Stoute-Fallon connection, is another worth a good look. Well beaten on debut at Newbury where he looked like he had a bit to learn, he should come on plenty. We will have a bit of a clue as to how much from the running of Ameeq in the opener here, and if that has gone well then it will boost confidence for Front Stage, who finished behind Marcus Tregoning's runner at the Berkshire track. Forward Move is another debutante, but Richard Hannon has a good record with his juveniles here and with this one bred to do well over this trip at two, then his chance is well respected. However, the Godolphin runner has a decent bit of experience to build on, and so we take Humorous to score.
