    Verdict

Godolphin have been tremendously impressive with their juveniles this year and Esquire can enhance that record at the main expense of Kharish and Ampelio, while Ameeq can also improve. The selection is by the ill-fated Dubai Millennium, whose progeny have a 40 per cent strike rate thus far. Like his father, this trip looks ideal for the colt first up, while the ground will not be a problem, and the team are still having plenty of winners, so we will take him to produce the goods on debut. Kharish is the most experienced of these and has held his form well enough in three starts to date. The ground and draw were perhaps against him last time, and there are those who will be prepared to give him a fourth chance to get off the mark. He has the best form on offer of those who have had racecourse experience, but it may be that he is going to keep meeting good newcomers, and that may well be the case again here. Ampelio is another well bred sort, by Grand Lodge, and so trip and ground should suit him. The market may provide us with a clue as to his chance, but on the face of it, if he goes as well as many of Sir Michael Stoute's juveniles he is entitled to be thereabouts. Both Ameeq and Bertrose have a bit of improving to do judged on their Newbury debuts, but can get involved in a decent contest, which can be taken by Esquire.
