Verdict

Smad Place is the form pick in this on his second to subsequent Grand National winner Many Clouds in the BetBright Cup at Cheltenham in January. But this will be plenty short enough for Alan King's grey, who would also have preferred easier ground. FINGAL BAY (NAP) was pulled up on his reappearance in the Hennessy last year and only ran once thereafter. But this is his optimum distance and he's only having his sixth start over fences today. He might just be the value getting weight from inconsistent handicappers Kings Lad and Easter Day. Horizontal Speed was handled by the selection's trainer Philip Hobbs last season but has his first start here for David Dennis.
