In depth

Verdict

Last Sovereign, Ochre and Mark of Love look the main protagonists in this handicap and the confident vote is given to Last Sovereign. The selection won well at Catterick last time out when beating Ruthless Philly with plenty in hand and although he has a penalty for that win he will go up in the weights again when he is reassessed and from a good draw he looks the one to be on. Ochre rates the main danger on her latest third behind La Spezia but the fact that her shrewd connections have already reached for blinkers is off-putting. Mark Of Love is game and consistent and is sure to run his race but he has had plenty of chances off similar marks without taking one. Compton Charlie may need the run after a 169-day break and for the winner we return to Last Sovereign who is hard to oppose.
