Verdict

An open race in which the two to concentrate on may well be CAST IRON CASEY and Always Right with marginal preference for the former. Peter Monteith's charge warmed up for this with a run over hurdles at the track behind Midnite Blews and shaped encouragingly. He has yet to win a handicap over fences but has run well from higher marks than his current perch so looks feasibly treated and he can go close. Always Right is unexposed and a fascinating contender having brushed aside a stablemate of the selection in a hunter chase at this track and he appeals as a type who should have plenty more to offer. Youngstown has ability but has had problems with his fencing, Native Coral can fare better back over fences whilst Soubriquet enjoyed a confidence boosting win at Perth.
