Verdict

NICOLAS CHAUVIN hasn't been seen over fences since a couple of starts at Newton Abbot last autumn when running up against useful types in Dormello Mio and Ittirad. He meets nothing of that calibre here and is the one to beat if able to reproduce the level of his hurdling form now his attentions are turned to the larger obstacles. Trip and ground will suit. Closest Friend likes these sharp tracks and now makes his chasing bow but he was easily swept aside by Mystic Sky over timber last time and it remains to be seen how he takes to this new discipline. Upsanddowns and Willem enjoy the benefit of assured fitness and chasing experience and that counts for plenty in these races but both may lack the class of the Henderson inmate.
