In depth

Verdict

Another competitive contest looks to be on the cards here with 11 runners set to face the starter for this three-mile handicap chase. Topweight Stanmore faces a stiffer task off a 6lb higher mark than when successful at Fakenham last time, especially as he was race fit then. Another last time out winner, Mothers Help, was lucky to score at Folkestone (benefiting from the fall of Manodee) and, having gone up 2lbs for that, looks opposable. Ferdy Murphy's Richie's Delight has a string of placed efforts to his name and should again run his race but may have to settle for minor honours once more, a comment that may also apply to Richard Rowe's Dick McCarthy. Bowles Patrol has claims if fit enough for his seasonal reappearance, as does the 13-year-old Frazer Island. However, the TEAMtalk selection has to be Guilsborough Gorse. Tim Walford's gelding was value for more than his half-length success over Gayles And Showers at Hexham last month and, off just a 3lb higher mark, he can follow up.
