In depth

Verdict

Double Shot, The Accordion Man and Strong Coffee make up our short-list but there are several others in the field with decent claims. Tom George's Double Shot is our idea of the winner following his decent effort in a Kempton handicap. He improved when stepped up to 2 miles 5 on his third start when beating all bar the useful Inghwung and Aux Le Bahn and took another step forwards on his latest outing. That run was over 3 miles 1 but this trip should be a sufficient test and his yard continues in form. The Accordion Man hasn't proved easy to train but he has his share of ability as he demonstrated when second to Seize at Southwell on his racecourse bow. He should have a say in the outcome if building on that. Regal Approach, Tisfreetdream and Peut Etre Sivola all have claims but Strong Coffee completes our short-list by virtue of some consistent performances but he may have to settle for a minor role behind our selection, Double Shot.
