Lord Oberon beat Cold Stare and Shady Mccoy over this trip at Doncaster in November but all of his form on Turf is on ground with some give. David O’Meara’s charge also comes out best at the weights today. BURNT SUGAR won valuable handicaps at Newmarket and Ascot last summer and continued to run well after. He’ll need to be at his best to make a winning reappearance but may be capable of holding his own in Listed company this year if he continues his improvement. Wahash has fitness on his side and may be coming to hand but is now 0-18 on Turf. Safe Voyage, who won first-time up last year, and Ptarmigan Ridge make more appeal.
