Verdict

Father Bertie could not be in better form and defied a big weight to gain a deserved win at Redcar at the start of the month. But he finished a place behind TWO FOR TWO at Ripon back in August and is 5lb worse off now. Roger Fell's gelding has been dropped a pound since his latest fifth in a competitive affair at York and looks well enough treated to pick up the winning thread again. Raising Sand picked up another victory, his third of the season, is a classified stakes at Ascot last time and is weighted to confirm that form with fifth Rousayan but Gratzie was disappointing at Newmarket and needs quicker conditions. Jack's Revenge is still fairly treated, despite a 5lb rise for winning at Epsom, while Ginger Jack and Le Chat D'or also warrant a mention.
