    Verdict

A high draw can be quite an advantage here and Beyond Calculation is ideally situated to get the better of his stablemate Whistler and the frustrating American Cousin today. The Vicky Haigh-trained Guns Blazing is another who should not be too far away at the finish but the 6lb extra he carries today limits his chances to place claims only. However, Beyond Calculation had been in good form before a below par effort at Brighton last time and is given another chance to redeem himself. The fact that Kevin Darley was having his first ride at the Sussex course for quite sometime on that occasion didn't help his cause and the race was all but over once the partnership got themselves back on an even keel. Seb Sanders is a more than adequate replacement in the saddle and the terms of this race give Beyond Calculation every chance of reversing the form with Whistler. Brigadore is feared most of the remainder.
