In depth

Verdict

Tommy Tobougg and Time To Regret rate highly but CARPE DIEM is the pick. He was the subject of a mighty gamble at Beverley for his previous connections but failed to seize the opportunity and remains a maiden after six starts. There's a danger that he could be sent off at a shorter price than his form merits but he clearly has ability and his new yard may be able to persuade him to deliver. Malinsa Blue is on a fair mark, Reve Vert may be able to step up on the form of his debut for Tim Vaughan whilst Signora Lady hinted at a return to form at Pontefract and all three could feature. Time To Regret is another back on a winning mark but he has tended to do his winning later in the year and the chief threat could be posed by Tommy Tobougg who's partnered by leading amateur Simon Walker. He's come down a long way in the weights but is in good form at present and looks sure to make a bold bid for top honours but the final race of the day may be won by Carpe Diem.
