        Verdict

        The Ian Semple-trained Templet gets the nod here ahead of Golden Temple and Peruvian Breeze. The selection proved that he acts on testing going when finishing a fair second at Newcastle last time and, as that was only his second outing, he should have more to come and appears to hold solid claims in this run-of-the-mill affair. The Ed Dunlop-trained Golden Temple could well be sent off as favourite as he has shown fair maiden form. The downside is that he was well beaten on soft going last time and has also been tried in a visor, so is maybe not one to back with confidence. Turning to the others, Flying Red is quite well-bred and could be interesting if there is money for her, while Sadler's Pride showed some promise on his Ripon debut but then flopped back at the same track next time. Act Of The Pace hails from a top stable but looked very green on her sole run last season and may need this seasonal return. However, Peruvian Breeze appeared to show improved form in a Kempton handicap last time, albeit it from a mark of just 60. We will take the view that Templet can exceed that type of rating and, accordingly, he gets the vote.
