In depth

Verdict

Wilkandoo is getting the hang of the racing game and is worth a speculative interest in a race of this nature. Just Sam and Grit are others that are in good heart just now and also make the shortlist, while a market move for Medici Time would be dangerous to ignore. The last named does have a bit to prove regarding his stamina, so it may be best to gauge the interest of the on-course public before getting involved with Tim Easterby's charge. Grit had shown very little before winning a competitive race at Salisbury eight days ago and is difficult to assess. However, he showed enough determination to suggest he can find another race and, even under a penalty, he can go close in this company if he is in the same frame of mind today. Just Sam is consistent and deserves a change of fortune. The fitting of a visor has helped to sharpen him up and he looks the best alternative to the selection. However, Wilkandoo is less exposed and, as he comes here on the back of his best effort to date, the Kevin Ryan-trained colt is selected as the best option today.
