      Verdict

Castlebury, an expensive failure last time when attempting ten furlongs for the first time can recoup losses for connections here. Prior to that, he was second behind the well-handicapped Hasty Retreat, finishing over three lengths in front of the third where he came from midfield but never looked like troubling the winner. The liklihood is more forcing tactics will be applied here back over the mile and those tactics would make him a real contender. Johnny Friendly made a bold bid to make all on his first start on turf this season over course and distance last time. That was his first attempt at a mile and while stamina was not his undoing, he is unlikely to get a soft lead here. Grit provides Tony Culhane with his first ride back following a combination of suspension and injuries. A slight ease underfoot appears to suit him best as he is one-paced inside the closing stages. Hasty Lady has much more on here plate here that the contest in which she won last time. The handicapper has dropped her 3lb after assessing that contest but she is a filly that has not progressed from her juvenile days. Castlebury is our selection to land this handicap.
