Verdict

High Resolution is considered while support for Silkenveil would be noteworthy but our vote goes to RIVER ARDECHE. Ben Haslam's gelding ran well to take second at Pontefract last time, further advertising his liking for a stiff finish, and off the same mark could take some stopping. If anything the likely slower ground here will suit and Patrick Donaghy knows the horse well, so in an open finale he's the horse considered most likely to oblige. High Resolution looked a tad one-paced when failing to live up to market expectations last time and could therefore be suited by taking a two-furlong hike in distance. James Sullivan looks grand value for his 5lb claim too so Linda Perratt's animal is not to be ignored. Silkenveil is hard to assess ahead of her handicap debut but failed to settle here last time and is a risky betting proposition with that in mind, so a bigger threat to River Ardeche could arrive in the shape of Nisaal. John Quinn's charge is consistent but hasn't yet won in 18 starts, however if he's ready to go after a 98-day break then a place may be his for the taking. Finsbury looks in the handicappers grip so a bigger threat of the remainder looks to be Sea Land, who took second behind a rival on a roll last time, but River Ardeche looks the one.
