      Verdict

      Ann Duffield's Royal Cheer only won her Catterick maiden by a head and has struggled in two starts in handicaps since then so looks best passed over with a better bet in a low quality start to the evening's action being BOTHAM, who gets the vote ahead of Angaric. Bryan Smart's gelding has run creditably in recent starts on the Polytrack and Fibresand and would have every chance if able to reproduce a similar level of form on turf, especially having been given a chance by the handicapper. Hettie Hubble ran better in a seller at Redcar last time but this is tougher, while Needy McCredie ran well when last seen over six furlongs, albeit in a seller, but looks a shade high in the weights. Peter Monteith's Santiago Atitlan needs to improve on all known form to trouble the judge and it is hard to get away from Jim Goldie's Botham, who only went down by three-quarters of a length over course and distance last time and he can go one better today off just a 2lb higher mark.
