        Verdict

        GUN RUNNER went from strength to strength in 2017 after finding last year’s winner Arrogate too good in the Dubai World Cup. He’s won four consecutive Grade 1 races subsequently culminating in a defeat of both Collected and West Coast in the Breeder’s Cup Classic at Del Mar in November. Steve Asmussen’s charge is the one to beat in this though Sharp Azteca is a high-class miler having landed the Cigar Mile at Aqueduct last month. Stellar Wind is also a prolific Grade 1 winner but she faces a stiff task in this company while Jamie Osborne and Frankie Dettori team up with Toast Of New York, who finished runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Classic back in 2014 but has had just the one outing since when winning his comeback race at Lingfield last month.
