It was a surprise to see Velvet Band racing over 1m3f at Dundalk as she had been confined to much shorter trips when with Paul Cole last season. That was her first start for Ger Lyons and improvement can be expected. After a promising reappearance at Dundalk, Andantino started favourite at Leopardstown but appeared to find a mile on the short side and struggled home behind Book Of Numbers. NON TISCORDARDIME didn't show much in his opening campaign but it was a different matter on his return to action here where he was always travelling nicely and had something to spare at the finish. He's up 9lbs here but may still be ahead of the handicapper. Lyle Lady produced her best efforts in testing conditions last term and is unlikely to get them here.
