In depth

Verdict

Hardly the most inspiring of races to start the card, but Key Oneothree should be good enough to land the spoils, as long as she can be forgiven a disappointing run on the all-weather last time, with Foxtrotromeoyankee, John's Champ and Fittleworth the best of some moderate opposition. The Entrepreneur filly was fancied for a seller on polytrack at Lingfield last time, but was most disappointing and finished in seventh place, well behind Downtherefordancin, who reopposes on the same terms here. The latter has been knocking at the door in this type of event, but it is probably worth forgiving Key Oneothree that poor run as she had earlier been in fair form on turf, most notably when second in a similar event at Nottingham. Whilst we would advise stakes to be kept to a minimum in this race, Mark Johnston's horses are in good form, and the stable has an excellent record at this track, so it may be worth giving her one more chance. Foxtrotromeoyankee would have a chance on some of his all-weather form, but has only raced once on turf, and John's Champ is another to consider if able to convert his all-weather form to turf. Fittleworth was runner-up in an Ayr seller last season, and providing she sees out this trip would have good claims on that form.
