Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Southport Star is going the right way and can come good at the expense of Giverny Spring, Pagan Crest and Deira to name but a few. Inmates from the James Fanshawe stable always improve for a run or two, and we can be certain that there is more to come from Southport Star, a daughter of King's Best who showed promise as a juvenile and who will be all the better for a run behind Tamagin at Lingfield. Giverny Spring has failed to progress from her Newmarket debut but can only be better for an outing at Wolverhampton, while Pagan Crest will have the support of the locals. Deira was well behind Red Evie at Newbury but the ground was soft and she will be better on this ground. Debord, Strife and Maidford make a bit of each-way appeal from those down at the bottom of the weights, but Southport Star can now start to fulfil her potential.
