Verdict

Three-year-olds have a good recent record in this so Our Channel, the only representative of the classic generation this year, must be worth a second look. He won the Derby Trial at Epsom on his reappearance and was second in a Grade 3 in the USA last month, though both those races were over 1m2f and he's been done no favours by the draw here. Russian Realm, Boomshackerlacker and Bronze Angel are others with a wide berth to overcome while Royal Hunt Cup third Steeler will struggle to grab a prominent early position from stall 17 while Captain Cat hasn't raced since landing a valuable event on the Polytrack in April, though has probably been laid out for this. VELOX was unlucky when finishing behind Red Avenger at Epsom in June but made no mistake when well backed at Sandown last month when Russian Realm was only fourth. He's gone up 9lb but is on the upgrade and should be thereabouts again. Mark Johnston has trained three of the last five winners and his Heavy Metal has come back to his best and can't be ignored while Magic City loves this track. Belgian Bill and Pastoral Player are well treated, though the latter is better over 7f and that his probably Horsted Keynes' best trip as well.
