Prince Rudi won this as a twelve-year-old last season on his first-ever visit to the track but it's difficult to see him achieving a repeat now he's a teenager. Tony Martin's horses have been running well all week and it's impossible to get away from the chances of Pyromaniac. Still only five, he beat a decent field in a rated hurdle at Limerick in May and followed up in a strong handicap on the Flat at the Curragh a few days later. He's been given a break and will take some beating while his stablemate Elishpour ran a superb race in the Ascot Stakes on his last start and reverts to hurdles on a fair mark. Some Article won two major handicaps in April and though both were over the minimum trip he gave every indication he would stay further though it's a big ask in such a competitive affair. Erlkonig stepped up to around this trip at Killarney and was always travelling like a winner while Cape Glory found three miles too far at Gowran last time after scoring over 2m4f at Roscommon. WOOD BREIZH could only finish third in that latter race but that was his first run since October and he's since won on the Flat and finished a good fourth behind Modem on the level here on Monday. He looks well treated and gets the nod.
