Verdict

A good way to open the card at Folkestone and this looks sure to produce a few winners in time. However, for today, Haricardia is fancied to come out on top after making an eye-catching debut at Kempton behind subsequent Star Stakes winner Lucky Pipit. The David Loder-trained Outer Hebrides is an obvious danger and has the best of the draw today. But like Mindset and Speed Racer, already looked to be in need of a more testing distance after just finding one too good in a run-of-the-mill maiden at Catterick. Therefore Haricardia, as a half sister to seven furlong winner Card Games, edges the vote with Darryll Holland booked for the ride. The daughter of Halling met trouble at the start on her debut before finishing with a flourish inside the final quarter mile - an experience that will stand her in good stead for this idiosyncratic course. And if Dazzler can bounce her out of the stalls to be on the pace from the outset - the well-bred filly may have too much resolution for her rivals at the finish.
