In depth

Verdict

Saraba, Pax Romana and Bird Away are the three to concentrate on in this maiden fillies' stakes and the vote is given to Saraba. The selection has finished second on her previous three runs but she was only narrowly beaten over today's course and distance last time behind Pont Neuf and compensation surely awaits for her supporters here. Pax Romana rates the main danger but she tackles this trip for the first time and she seemed to be unsuited by the soft ground at Leicester last time, so we will oppose her on this occasion. Bird Away was staying-on for pressure at the finish at Leicester last time behind Native American. She handles soft ground and the step-up in trip should help her so she will give our selection plenty to think about. It will be a surprise if any of the others are good enough and we will stick with Saraba as our idea of the winner.
