In depth

Verdict

Armoury House is a confident selection here, with Apocalozzo and Even Flo shortlisted as the best alternatives. Even Flo has shown flashes of ability and has an each way chance at this level. But it is worth remembering that she is yet to win a race and she is also returning from a long absence, so her presence on the shortlist simply underlines the lack of strength in depth amongst the rest. Apocalozzo has been in good form in point-to-points, so has to be respected. The gelding won a Welsh maiden by a distance last month and is worth another try under rules. However, he meets another back-to-form rival in the shape of Armoury House, who was good value for his winning margin at Towcester last month. A repeat of that effort would be good enough to repel the challenges today and Armoury House is very hard to oppose in such a weak race.
