In depth

Verdict

HI EMPEROR made a promising debut at the Curragh in March and did even better there last month when an excellent third behind Singing Bird in a big field on ground with plenty of give. Hopefully he'll handle the quicker ground and dangers are few and far between. An Cat Dubh's one poor run came on heavy ground and he did well when a close fourth at Down Royal on Friday. The beautifully-bred Ransomed Rose would greatly enhance her paddock value with a victory and she's shown enough in her two starts to warrant respect and Pat Smullen chooses her over stablemate Harathea. The expensive Danzerini, who is out of a USA Grade 1 winner, may do best of the remainder.
