    Verdict

This valuable handicap should be as fiercely contested as ever, but Lingo gets a confident vote to follow up his reappearance win at Pontefract. Lynda Ramsden's gelding was a good winner on his seasonal return, and the form has since been franked twice, with runner-up Broadway Score winning a big handicap at Kempton, and the third horse, Dutch Gold, finishing second in Listed company. With that in mind, a four pound rise in the weights looks extremely lenient and he can land this before going on to even better things. Of the remainder, Persian Lass is a nice sort who ran well a number of times last year, including in the Cambridgeshire, but did not have the best of luck on several occasions. She should go well if stripping fit enough for her reappearance. Dumaran put up a decent effort when sixth in the Lincoln and will be a threat if he is as effective over these extra two furlongs. Faithful Warrior put up an eye-catching performance when second in a big handicap at Kempton on his reappearance but Barry Hills' charge can be a frustrating character and is not certain to reproduce that over today's trip.
