Verdict

Off a 7lb higher mark, Ingleby Spirit has more to do than when successful on his reappearance at Pontefract. Sirvino is hard to win with nowadays but there are possibilities about the lightly-raced Taqleed, who won at Nottingham and Newmarket last year before finishing a creditable sixth in the Cambridgeshire. John Gosden also saddles the first-time blinkered Beachfire, who has won four of his five starts and may be capable of further improvement this year. Frankie Dettori's mount Sand Skier, second at Deauville last month, looks the pick of Mark Johnston's two runners and C&D winner Resurge wouldn't be far away on his best form. But let's take a chance on Andrew Balding's OPERA GAL, who proved herself a tough and dependable filly last season and has plenty in her favour on her reappearance.
