Verdict

HAZEL BAY cost 78,000gns but may have been a bargain as she's a half-sister to six winners including the high-class pair Youmzain and Creachadoir. She made a belated debut in a Listed contest at Navan won by Mary Tudor, who was placed in Group 1 company later, while both Princess Yaiza and Sizzling, who were third and fourth, were winners in Group company later. There's nothing here with comparable form and Dermot Weld's filly can start making up for lost time. Machiavelli finished runner-up twice on Turf last summer for Johnny Murtagh and though finishing last on his debut on the surface three weeks ago should do much better than that. May Peace Prevail ran very well on his belated debut here in December and can only improve though With A Start, who showed potential for William Haggas last summer, looks a bigger threat after a fine run behind Chess Grand Master a month ago, especially as the winner completed a double in a better race last week.
