Verdict

Michael Halford has won two of the last three of these with short-priced favourites and PLAYA DEL PUENTE looks certain to attract attention. A £40,000 yearling, he was a 50/1 chance on his debut in a big field at the Curragh but belied his odds with a cracking effort to be beaten just over a length and would have gone close but for being impeded in the closing stages. Will Be King has improved with every run and very nearly made all over the track and trip a fortnight ago. He should go close again while Empire Line caught the eye when staying on steadily over 6f here three weeks ago. The latter was well supported so better is expected as it is for Thebeastfortheeast, another who was strong in the market on his debut at Naas.
