Verdict

The last two winners of this are back for more. Dinkum Diamond has won just the one race since 2012 and that was this contest last year. He beat third-placed Jack Dexter, who landed this in 2013, with Heaven's Guest further behind. Aetna and Naadirr ended last season with Listed victories. The former was successful in testing ground over course and distance and the latter on fast going at York while Justice Day also picked up a Listed sprint with victory in the Rous Stakes at Ascot. ASTAIRE failed to fulfil expectations in Group 1 sprints last season having won the Gimcrack and the Middle Park as a two-year-old. Kevin Ryan's colt should find life easier at this lower level and is taken to return to winning ways.
