Verdict

Not many of these can be given a realistic chance and in a weak race Tre Colline looks the one to be on with Smart Predator and Effervesce likely to fight out the minor honours. The selection won a handicap here over seven furlongs last month and has not been disgraced in two starts off his new mark since. The drop to six furlongs should not be a problem as there is plenty of speed in his pedigree and, in a poor contest, Chris Wall's gelding gets the vote. Smart Predator has a 5lb penalty to carry as he is rated 80 and is likely to struggle to concede weight, as he has done since winning at Redcar four outings ago. Effervesce has had little respite from the handicapper of late having been well beaten off the same mark in his last five starts since winning at Leicester. He is difficult to recommend even in this lesser company. Nemo Fugat has claims at the weights but has shown little sign of encouragement recently, a comment that also applies to Argent Facile. With both Haithem and Distant King appearing no better than moderate, Tre Colline has been found a suitable opportunity to return to winning ways.
