King Ottokar has to be of interest running in his first handicap but he probably needs further. Matthew Flinders’ win here came over 1m2f and he’s not looked an easy ride since, though clearly has an engine. Magical Morning was a course and distance winner in June and can be forgiven his latest run at Goodwood but Diocles Of Rome has done all of his winning so far over 7f. Overwrite is having a 10th run of this compacted season and is still 7lb higher than for his one victory in that time and we prefer a more progressive three-year-old in LA TRINIDAD. Roger Fell’s gelding has come on in leaps and bounds this year and produced another career-best at York last month. He has been raised another 4lb but should still give a good account. Aweedram has switched stables and needs softer going than he’ll encounter today.
