Verdict

Ansgar won this last year for Sabrina Harty but has a lot more on his plate this time. Richard Hannon looks to hold a strong hand with Ivawood, placed in the English and Irish 2000 Guineas in the spring, and Coulsty. Both contested a Group 1 at Deauville last time so are dropped in grade. Safety Check and Code Red weren't beaten far in this grade at Goodwood last time while Limato will be a threat to all if he handles the step up from 6f. Lightning Moon is another decent sprinter stepping up in distance but Naadirr won over 7f as a two-year-old so should have no problems with the extra. CABLE BAY finished behind Coulsty and Breton Rock in the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury last month but had no luck in-running. He has his ground today and, if in the same mood as when a close-up fifth in the Lockinge at the start of the year, could take all the beating, though Home Of The Brave won well at the Curragh last time and is a danger.
